Dr. Izawa graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Western Ontario (UWO) in 1994 and subsequently completed his Urology Residency at UWO. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 1999. He completed a basic science research and clinical fellowship as a McLaughlin Fellow in Urologic Oncology at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in 2001. Dr. Izawa is a Professor of Surgery, Oncology and Pathology at Western University. His clinical practice primarily involves the management of urologic malignancies. He was the Program Director for the Urology Residency Program at UWO from 2005 to 2009. He was the Program Director for the Society of Urologic Oncology Fellowship at Western University from 2011-2018.
